The Pre-College Program is the 6-12 track for the SHPE National Conference. The SHPE Pre-College Program is designed to increase student interest, self-efficacy, and identity in STEM. The program is for middle school and high school students. The one-day event will feature several hands-on activities presented by our professional member volunteers and corporate partners. Furthermore, we provide workshops related to confidence and interest in STEM subjects and exposure to STEM degrees and careers.

In partnership with Ten80 Education, SHPE is proud to offer the Engineering Design Challenge (EDC). The event consists of an all-day competition on the day prior to the Pre-College Program.  The EDC includes three hands-on STEM activities which apply robotics, coding, design, and entrepreneurship elements.

Testimonial from 2016:

“On behalf of the M.S.D. of Pike Township and the students and staff involved with  the SHPE, Jr. chapter, I just want to say that each year when our students have an opportunity to participate in the Pre-College Symposium, they gain not only information, but motivation and insight on what the possibilities are for their future!!  Thank you is not a strong enough phrase for how much I appreciate the experiences you have provided our students.”
